Jungle Socks and Plastic Bags

The tiger socks are finally done. It's ridiculously difficult for me to photograph my own feet, but here are the photos I managed to take. In the absence of housemates, autotimer is a real lifesaver. I’m not sure how I’d feel about asking someone to take photos of my feet though, so I’ll probably continue to take them this way… Nonknitters might think it’s a bit weird to document your crafting. Anyway, here goes:

Very basic top-down socks in Opal Regenwald and Admiral 4ply for the white parts. Knit on size 2 (US0) needles.

I already have a new project on the hook (yes, crochet! I'm not very good but it's fun). No pictures of the WIP yet, but it all started with a pile of plasic bags

which were then sorted by color:

Blogging for beginners

Oh great, another knitting blog! I believe it’s my duty as the owner of this new and shiny page page that I make a few announcements:

  • You know those awesome craft blogs with beautiful pictures taken in a spotless home and breathtaking gardens? Yeah… this is probably not going to be of those. Don’t get me wrong, I love those – but if I had to clean up every time I wanted to take a photo for this thing, I wouldn’t get anything up, ever. Also, I’m not very good at home decoration. I feel like I should prove my point at this… well, point:

The storage for UFOs. God, my carpet is ugly!

  • English is not my first language. I spent days agonizing over whether I felt more comfortable blogging in German but then I realized: noone reads a knitting blog for the amazing prose anyway, all anyone wants is pictures of yarn and projects. And when I say anyone, I mean me.

  • What with me being German, there very likely won’t ever be any KnitPicks here. I know, it’s quite tragic. (Man, I want to try KnitPicks some day. And Red Heart. Just because I’m curious! Also Wollmeise, but I fear that way madness lies.)

  • I cuss too much and I like acrylic. I’m not sure which of these is worse to the general knitter.

Ahh, now that everyone has probably left, I should start with the current projects. This is after all an exercise in getting my knitting better organized and not procrastinating on silly things as much.

Sooooo close! Truth be told, I like my socks like my friends: colourful and slightly inappropriate for most occasions. The yarn is Opal Rainforest in Tiger. I’m not usually a fan of self-striping socks but that whole rainforest line is pretty awesome.

Juliana in Miro. I’m not crazy about the colour and it certainly doesn’t go with anything in my closet. Important lesson learned: you don’t buy yarn just because it’s on sale super cheap. It’s soft and nice to work with though, so it’s still a fun project.
